VPN Client Setup

I have been trying to run the VPN client setup program on my home computer to establish a VPN connection with a Magnia SG20 at my office. My home computer does NOT have the Magnia setup disc loaded on it since the appliance is not here. The VPN setup disk that I generate from the VPN section on the Magnia is suppose to setup my computer at home, according to the instructions. However, since I don't have a phone modem, but rather a broadband (cable) modem, it won't detect any modem and therefore will not install. Is there a way around this or a fix that I haven't found yet? I hope you can help me out here. --dave

Also, where on the Magnia will I find the actual intranet files that Toshiba put on that comes up when you enter the ip address of the server? I want to try an make some changes and deletions if I can. I have Webmin installed.

All you need for PPtP VPN is to enable it on the Magnia, set which user(s) can use it, and then create a new Dial-Up networking connection on the client computer pointing to your Magnia's IP address rather than a phone number.(This assumes that BOTH connections are high-speed, I haven't tried dialing in, to do this I would think you would establish internet connectivity with your ISP first, then connect to the VPN.)
The step most people miss here is enabling a user for VPN in the first place. This is done in the same area as enabling the VPN.
Network->VPN->PPTP VPN Access Configure ->Enable/Disable Users
The user guide for VPN is there as well.(This info is NOT in the regular manual)

You must install additional networking protocols only if you are not using Win2000/XP/2003 for the client OS.
For security I suggest you create a new, unique, LONG username and password for VPN access.
There are several locations for the two web server files running on the magnia. They are all subbed under /SA2. There are directories for HTML and separate directories for CGI.

/sa2/lang/en/web/intranet for HTML
/sa2/web/intranet for CGI and headers.

Forget all that though!
Use webmin->system->bootup and shutdown.
Goto httpd_intranet and eliminate radiobutton mark for "Start at boot time?"
Do the opposite for httpd.
Restart the magnia.(httpd_intranet can't be killed easily once started due to scripts)

You now have a default apache server running and can modify it as you wish. The getting started guide will actually be your new default site.

Thanks! The connection part works now.

As for the intranet part, I don't want to disable it, I just want to remove the 2 links on the main page that go to "Software Applications" and "Office Supplies". If I can just find where to remove those button images and hyper links from that main page, I would be happy. Can you offer any information in that area?

Since the page and UI are built on-the-fly by CGI you have a little work cut out for you
